New polymer banknotes of Dh 1000 denomination were issued and circulated by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) from April 10, 2023. The durable currency is produced on a safeguard polymer substrate and is more sustainable and durable. The larger majority of the expatriate population of Dubai and other Emiratis, who are returning from their native places, should not be startled by these polymer notes that are still circulated. They should also note that the new denominations can be availed from banks and exchange houses. 

The image of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan can be seen on one side of the new note alongside the model of a space shuttle. Meanwhile, on the other side of the new currency is the picture of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant located in Abu Dhabi. These images convey the space and nuclear ambitions of the UAE. The note also has got advanced features like the SPARK Flow besides being the largest multi-coloured KINEGRAM surface applied foil stripe. Yet another striking feature of the new Dh 1000 banknote is the Braille symbols added to it.
